Episode 034: Improving Access to Care with CityPT

How do we improve access to much-needed healthcare services?

It’s pretty commonly cited that, of the millions of people who experience musculoskeletal pain in a given year, only 9-11% of them will receive physical therapy treatment. And, since physical rehabilitation treatment is one of the most cost-effective and clinically effective treatments out there for musculoskeletal pain, it would stand to reason that we want that number to be higher than 9-11%.

Well, part of the problem revolves around accessibility and access to care. For many, physical therapy services pose an inconvenience to say the least. Scheduling time off of work, traveling to appointments (often, frequent appointments), and the like make it difficult for patients to stick to their treatment programs. Not to mention the other reasons that lead to 7 our of 10 patients not completing their course of care, on average.
