How much importance should we place on real estate in healthcare?
For many of us clinicians-turned-preactice-owner, real estate typically receives little of our thought and energy. I mean, if the lease keeps going up, or property taxes get increased, it gets our attention. But otherwise, we went into healthcare to treat patients and help them get better, not to become real estate tycoons. That being said, commercial real estate has the ability to greatly impact the profitability and long-term success of any healthcare clinic or facility. In fact, real estate typically becomes the 2nd highest expense next to payroll in any healthcare business!
