Technology, Insurance, and Value-based Payment in Healthcare
We’ve done episodes on the show about healthcare technology, insurance vs. private-pay healthcare, and value-based reimbursement arrangements. However, we’ve never combined all three into one topic before.
What happens when you combine healthcare technology and insurance carriers? Sometimes, you end up with an organization that leverages their member data to drive outcomes and manage costs through value-based reimbursement arrangements and individualized care pathways. My guest this week, Unmesh Srivastava heads up technology and digital innovation at Clever Care, a health plan operating in the California Medicare Advantage Market. What makes them unique involves their use of data and technology to focus on and improve clinical outcomes for specific groups and populations based on their sociocultural backgrounds. We had a wide-ranging discussion ranging from the use of healthcare technology and data to improve outcomes all the way to value-based reimbursement arrangements.
What we cover in this Episode:
- Using technology and artificial intelligence to unpack data gathered from plan members
- How social determinants of health affect clinical outcomes and vary across cultural backgrounds
- Differing incentives in healthcare payment and reimbursement
- Innovating the healthcare insurance space in the United States
- Different value perspectives of various stakeholders in healthcare
- Achieving Better Outcomes by leveraging data, technology, and reimbursement models

Work With Me
If you’re ready to craft a strategy to help your organization bring in more clients, retain them throughout their course of care, and create uniquely impactful patient experiences, then reach out. I’d love to talk with you about how Rehab U Practice Solutions can help.
What I can help you do:
✅ Train your staff and clinicians to be able to confidently communicate the value your organization provides…
✅ Leverage best practices, new technology, telehealth, and marketing/messaging to maximize patient engagement & retention…
✅ Develop a system that keeps patients & clients happy, engaged, and satisfied throughout the entire process of care…
I help you not only craft marketing messages & campaigns that build that know, like, & trust value you need to convert leads into scheduled clients; but I also work with your clinicians and staff to make sure that, once a patient decides to schedule an appointment, you have a system setup that keeps them happy, engaged, and satisfied throughout the onboarding, treatment, and discharge process.
In short, I’ll help your whole organization become focused on the most important thing in healthcare: people – the people who work for your organization, and the people who your organization treats and serves.
