What do you need to know about professional liability insurance in private practice healthcare?
Now most clinicians I know treat professional liability insurance in private practice healthcare as one thing in a list of many pressing to-dos. For many clinicians, a quick internet search for insurance providers, a quick scan to find the cheapest rate, and an email reminder to renew next year make up the extent of their investigation (and hopefully use) of professional liability insurance. But, for something that could potentially protect your professional license, and career, perhaps there’s more that needs to be discussed. Now, I, like many people, begin to stare off into the distance when talk of insurance comes up. The last thing I want to do is sit through some sales pitch about why this product is better than that one….blah blah blah.
That being said, this week, I sit down with William Sullivan from the CM&F group for a no-sales, all info conversation about the ins and outs of professional liability insurance in private healthcare practice. He’s the EVP and Chief Underwriting officer at CM&F Group. I was actually on his podcast a little bit ago to talk about the book. Check out that interview here.
What we cover in this Episode:
- The basics of professional liability insurance in private practice healthcare
- Some of the protections provided to covered clinicians through policy benefits
- What to know about group coverage and personal coverage
- Why you may consider obtaining personal coverage despite being covered by the group or practice
- Protecting your most important asset as a clinician in private healthcare practice (your license)
- Achieving Better Outcomes by having a better understanding of your insurance coverage
We’re starting to create videos of certain podcast episodes, including this episode, which can find on the YouTube Channel.
